Roswell Men's Recreational Leage 65+

Starting this fall season, the Roswell Recreation and Parks Department will offer a recreational league for men ages 65 and older. This league follows the official City of Roswell guidelines for all adult soccer leagues using the City of Roswell soccer fields. Like all other leagues, this league will be organized and managed by Roswell's Men's Recreational Leagues within the Parks & Rec Department.

An agreement has been made with the Roswell Recreation and Parks Department that this league will adopt the rules and policies of our ROSWELL SENIORS SOCCER Club and will be organized and managed by them. This means there are no changes to our previous games.

This move is another step toward integrating our senior soccer into an official Roswell Recreation and Parks Department league, which will make it much easier to promote our program.

2023 Florida Classic

For the first time we registered a team under ROSWELL SENIORS O70 for this traditional tournament. Unfortunately, we were divided into a group with the strongest teams of the tournament. In our first game against CONNECTICUT, we couldn't keep our 3:0 lead and in the end, we had to settle for a 3:3. We won the second game against OK UNITED 2:1 and in our 3rd game we had to play against probably the strongest team FREDDY FUND and say goodbye to the tournament with a 6:0 for FREDDY FUND. The draw in the first game probably cost us a place in the semi-finals. FREDDY FUND played the finals against CONNECTICUT (FREDDY FUND beat CONNECTICUT 3:0).

Every player on our team did their best and can look back with pride on the tournament despite missing the Semi final. I would especially like to thank Yasuo who put this team together and, as always, did the administrative part of our team perfectly. Special praise also goes to our coach Dane who understood how to manage the balancing act between team formation and the play time of the individual players. Thank you both!

The next tournament is in July, Soccer Fest in Greensboro. We have already registered two teams (ROSWELL SENIORS O70 and O75) and will try to put together an O65 team as well.

“SOCIALITY LUNCH”

After a good turnout in both of today's activities (soccer tennis and scrimmage) we had our Sociality Lunch at Taco Mac. Almost twenty players came, and we were able to watch the quarterfinal between Argentina and Croatia together over food and beer.

Many thanks to Dane for organizing this event.

First “SOCIALITY NIGHT”

Our first Sociality Night was a complete success. Many thanks to Dane for organizing this event. Fourteen RSS players came, and we were able to address our sporting issues over pizza and beer.

We have come to the following results:

1.       Our new formation for the fall season (5v5 and 11v11) has been fully confirmed. Due to age, we will narrow  our field a little and play without offside in the future for our 11v11 formation.

2.       There were interesting suggestions for improvement that should be discussed in more detail.

3.       Our communication will continue to be via email.

We all agreed that these events should continue. Thanks again Dane, and we look forward to the next event which is certainly already being planned.

Coordinator for ROSWELL SENIORS SOCCER - Social Events

I am pleased to announce that Dane Wooldridge is now our coordinator for our planned social events. I appreciate Dane’s willingness to take on this task. With this task Dane is also a member of our RSS-Committee.

The events are designed to help improve our club culture and the camaraderie that comes with it. One of these events is to take place every 3 months on Wednesdays under the name "Sociality Night" and give our members the opportunity to address ideas, improvements, or grievances. Please use these events to help us make improvements and also to show your loyalty to RSS. Dane will send you an invitation to each event and ask you to confirm your attendance so he can make a reservation.

Soccer Fest 2022 Chattanooga

It's time to thank all the players for showing their willingness to play for FC Georgia United O70 and O75 in Chattanooga. Special thanks to Yasuo Matsuzawa, Ramiz Okyay, John Jurs, and Richard Cleaveland for their great work as manager and coaches. Special thanks also to our non-Georgia players Antonio Monteiro, Patrick Carmen, Keith Gleason, Dan Hickey, John Vincent, Marty Parachou, and Larion Gopadze who played for our teams.

Many thanks to our cheerleaders for the moral support of our team. Without them we would only have been half as successful.

We can be very proud of how we played in very competitive groups. Our great morale and team spirit contributed to our very close results. It's a shame we fell short of our expectations. I hope all players had fun and enjoyed Chattanooga.

Player Report

Orville visited his home country Jamaica and presented two schools with soccer equipment donated by our O65 Division. Please read his short trip report under ABOUT > Player Reports.

Thank you, Orville, for this donation.

Dear Players of the O65 Division

Starting today, June 1, 2022, we will be making some adjustments for our O65 Division. The following changes will be made as of today:

New Name

Our current name "O65 Division" also creates confusion for the planned "O65 League." Therefore, we will rename the O65 Division to "ROSWELL SENIORS SOCCER".

The new name was chosen to document that this organization offers soccer activities only for seniors over 65 without being part of the Roswell soccer league.

Status "ROSWELL SENIORS SOCCER"

The "ROSWELL SENIOR SOCCER" is an organization under FCGU. Every player must be a club member of FCGU.

Rental Costs for Sunday Games

In the case of activities that are not available to all club members, "ROSWELL SENIORS SOCCER" will cover all rental costs incurred for our Sunday games ourselves. Therefore, for the period from June to December 2022, there will be an additional fee of $50 per player playing on a team on Sundays. This would eliminate any financial support from the club FCGU. Irrespective of this, all current O65 members can continue to use all club activities of FCGU in 2022.

Today we finished our winter season.

I would like to thank all the players for their good sportsmanship this past season. A special thanks goes to Jeff Freemyer for his help and support that allowed us to put together a decent schedule of games.

It was a season where some games could only be considered friendlies, as one team unfortunately did not always have enough players available. One game had to be canceled due to weather conditions. However, I am especially pleased that we always focused on our main goal of mutual respect!

Thanks again and have fun in the summer season 2022.

Congratulations to Team A for winning the 2022 winter season!

The 65 Division is mourning for Wilder Rosales

I’m very sad to report the passing of Wilder. We have lost a good and faithful friend. It is sad and incredible that Wilder had to leave us so unexpectedly. He was a fair and excellent sportsman who always served the team without drawing attention to himself.

Wilder, you will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget you.

Rest in peace.

Happy New Year 2022!

A year that brought about some changes in our society is now behind us. We have also seen different opinions and assessments on many issues that affect us. That was often exhausting, but a strong community can withstand contradictions: "if we listen to one another and respect one another."

A year full of expectations lies ahead of us, which we encounter positively and which we also want to actively shape.

For this reason, we have planned to expand our O65 activities for 2022 in order to deepen our sense of community and our camaraderie. In addition to the existing activities, we are planning a monthly scrimmage for our tournament teams, a memory tournament, a "Stammtisch 65" every third month, and a get-together brunch once a year. I will be giving you the full overview of our plan shortly.

I look forward to a positive 2022 together with you!

Fall Season 2021 - Schedule October

It was planned that all games for the fall season would start from October on Sundays at 10:30 am.

However, since youth games are scheduled for the next 3 Sundays from 11:00 am at ERP (Field 1), we have to start our games at 9:00 am and finish at 10:30 am.

Please be on time on Sundays so we can completely finish our games.

As long as we have to deviate from our plan, I will inform you by email.

Thank you for your understanding.

Dear O65 Division player,

I am pleased that we now have our own website that contains all our current information and also does not forget our history. We are thus taking another step that will give us more professionalism. I will update the website at least once a week after our Sunday games. Please use this website for all necessary information about our activities.

There will be no more separate weekly invitations in the future once they are listed on the website. If one of our activities has to be canceled or changed, I will send an email about it.

I would like to improve our website constantly. For this, I need your support. Please get in touch with me for any improvements, such as corrections, player profiles, player stories, pictures, and much more.

I would also like to point out that this step was only possible with the financial help of our supporters. In making future decisions about your needs, I ask you to include the supporters in your decisions. Many Thanks!

Enjoy our website!
